Women Looking Ahead, Inc. (WLA) is a special events and marketing firm formed in 1990 by Rebecca J. Franklin, Chairman and CEO, to create and sponsor "empowerment" events for women across the country.

The success of WLA events led to the publication in May, 1993 of Women Looking Ahead News Magazine, a tabloid newspaper that chronicled the recognition of women who were high achievers. In 1999, the publication broadened its editorial focus and became a glossy, four-color magazine.

Based in Atlanta, Georgia, WLA has impacted the lives of thousands of working women far beyond its geographical boundaries. The WLA Board of Directors is comprised of powerful, nationally-known women who head their own successful businesses and hold positions of tremendous responsibility in the public and private sectors - including many of America's Fortune 500 companies. WLA is, perhaps, best known for its flagship publication Women Looking Ahead News Magazine, which reaches more than 150,000 readers six times a year through subscriptions and newsstand sales.

WLA hosts several well-attended annual Events, Programs and Conferences, such as Georgia Entrepreneur's Night, Breakfast at Tiffany's, the WLA 100s List Dinner, the "Ordinary Women With Extraordinary Talents" Awards Luncheon, the WLA Self-Empowerment Breakfast Series, the WLA Women's Political Forum, and the WLA Women's Health Fair. These events strengthen business and entrepreneurial networks for women and pay tribute to women and minorities who exemplify excellence and achievement in business.

Our mission is to go beyond the printed word, and collectively accomplish this task by creating, producing and participating in conferences, workshops, self empowerment series and numerous other events and activities that provide education, enrichment and self help information to women. Women Looking Ahead News Magazine's mission is to be more than just a women's news magazine. WLA is an organization of women who are imbued with a spirit of dedication, commitment and the pursuit of excellence in everything that we do. WLA is committed to improving the lives of women through education, mentoring and self help directives.

To our readers: we pledge to be a fair, strong and consistent voice dedicated to educating, informing, entertaining, supporting and encouraging local women.

To our advertisers: we offer the opportunity to reach a powerful, highly targeted buying audience, unavailable through other local media.

To our staff: we promise to promote cooperation, respect and understanding among the men and women who work here.

To our community: we commit to continue our involvement in our local environments because we care about our home and because we recognize that as our communities prosper so do we.

WLA is committed to community service, and the Company is particularly active in support of women and children's organizations. As Founder and CEO of WLA, Ms. Franklin served on the Hearts with Hope Ball committee, which benefits the Council on Battered Women. She chaired the Holiday House, which benefits Childkind, a nonprofit organization that assists children that are medically challenged and infected with the HIV virus, and Breakfast at Tiffany's, which benefits the Gate City Day Nursery Association. And, she co-chaired the Mayor's Masked Ball, which benefits The College Fund/UNCF. The Company has been recognized with numerous awards and accolades for its contributions.

WLA has built its reputation on supporting women who truly do look ahead to more lucrative and personally-fulfilling work lives. Accomplishment of its mission has been demonstrated through innovative programs, publications and promotions that consistently empower and encourage women.
